Kubjika Devi is a powerful and secret Tantric goddess in the Kaula tradition who represents the coiled, inward-turned Kundalini energy at the base of the spine. The name Kubjika translates literally to “the hunched or crooked one”. In a mystical sense, this does not denote physical deformity, but rather the coiled, dormant nature of Kundalini Shakti residing in the Muladhara chakra, which coils three-and-a-half times like a sleeping serpent.
Kubjika is the personification of Kundalini itself. Her sadhana focuses heavily on the movement of the vital breath (prana), the purification of the nadis (subtle energy channels), and the precise mechanics of the chakras.
