Pitru Paksha is a special fifteen days of the year when the ancestors come to earth from the other world to their families. During this time our ancestors can come to meet us in any form. It is the duty of the people to take full care of the happiness and honor of their ancestors. Happiness resides in families where the blessings of their ancestors remain. Tarpann has special importance in Pitru Paksha.

It is believed that during the period of Pitru Paksha, the souls of the ancestors who have gone to the afterlife remain free and they come to earth to receive the offerings. The process of offering water to ancestors is called Tarpann. In this Diksha, Tarpann Mantras will be chanted so that we can get the blessings of our ancestors.
